2012 Audi A1 Quattro planned and to be called Audi S1
Audi has revealed it will produce an all-wheel drive version of the recently released Audi A1 compact car. Audi has also said the new Quattro-driven hatch will adopt the Audi S1 name.
According to an AutoExpress report, the new car will get a 179kW 1.6 or 1.8-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine, which, paired with Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system, should allow the car to do 0-100km/h in around six seconds flat.
Reports say the S1 will be developed along side the upcoming Volkswagen Polo R and use much of the same parts. The main difference will be the sportier Quattro system with a torque vectoring rear sport differential, reserved for the Audi model.
The Audi S1 Quattro is said to debut some time next year as a concept and then expected to go into production during 2012.
