Land Rover Discovery 2 from London to Cape Town

10,000 kilometres across 20 countries, through some of the most inhospitable terrain you’re likely to ever encounter, is only half the challenge awaiting the diesel engine Land Rover Discovery 2, which set off on October 16, in an attempt to beat the world overland driving record from London to Cape Town.

That record of 13 days, 8 hours and 48 minutes was set back in 1963 by Eric Jackson in a Ford Cortina GT and will be a tough act to follow, let alone beat.

The team of three drivers is lead by adventurer Mac Mackenney and their attempt will raise money for Help for Heroes and has the support of patron’s Sir Stirling Moss OBE and Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE.

The Disco 2 will be using the best Havoline lubricants and fuel additives available for extreme protection for the engine during continuous driving over 13 days.

Good luck to Mac and the team from CarAdvice.com.au
