Aston Martin Cygnet explained on video

By Karl Peskett |

Aston Martin has released a short video explaining the rationale behind its Cygnet production car and how it will go about infusing Aston Martin’s heritage into the small car.

According to the British sports car maker, the Cygnet will contain the same feel as one of its bigger brothers with real metal in the interior, and the same paintwork as you can buy on the sports models. With the same leather, Aston Martin says the Cygnet will even smell the same inside.

Aston Martin also says it’s the forward-thinking buyer who’ll end up purchasing a Cygnet – one who understands the future requirements and restrictions of cities getting bigger and bigger.

I honestly don’t mind the Cygnet. If people want one that’s fine, they’ll just look incredibly stupid if they say “I own an Aston Martin” and they’re found out.

It won’t take away any of the exclusivity of Aston Martin because, honestly, who’s going to pay in excess of $50k for a car this small? Only someone rich enough to be able to afford a real one. It makes sense then because you get all of the niceties of an Aston without the running costs and stress of having a supercar in city traffic or a supermarket car park.

And hopefully more sales means more money to develop more of the world’s best cars.
