I have now had my Civic Type R for 3 months and look forward to driving it each day. I even make excuses to drive it. My previous cars have been the Integra GSI, Holden Commodore SS and before that my beloved Mitsubitsh Cordia Turbo.
If you are all about power an nothing else then I guess there are other options, but if you are after the whole package (Power, Style, Boot Space, Features, etc..) then in My opinion there is nothing anywhere near this price bracket that will compare.

The MPS weighs a lot more than the TYPE R. I drove them both and the performance it about the same. So I BOUGHT A CIVIC TYPE R. Consider fuel and Insurance and he ciciv comes up trumps!!!! But then I'm more of a driver than a poser so I'm more into handling, cornering, etc etc. things like aftermarket DVD players are not of concern. There are heaps of aftermarket tuning sources available if you want them. Coil overs, turbo, NOS, exhausts, HID lights are easy to find. As a daily driver it is harsh at times, but when you find that open twisty road you will know why you bought a Type R. DID you know you can fit a 42" plasma into a civic and save on delivery. I bet you can't do that in an Integra.....

I managed to get a test drive yesterday and boy was I disappointed.

The comfort and ergonomics in the car is great. They have a great layout and the gadgets in the car and on the steering wheel is pretty nifty.

However, Honda have over-compensated and lost the wow factor of the Type-R. After driving an Integra Type-R, the Civic can be compared to a donkey. It has absolutely no guts or balls until 6000RPM's and even then too, it does not have the same feeling.

The Integra Type-R required some refinement, but Honda over refined the new Civic, which is a total disappointment.

Add to that, the fact that Honda have built the car in such a way, you will not be able to put an aftermarket headunit, DVD unit and an exhaust system.

Before you go and buy this car, make sure you find an Integra Type-R and test drive it. Only then will you realise what a true Type-R is meant to be like.
