Mazda6 MPS renderings leaked

By George Skentzos |

Photos leaked onto the web today are apparently that of the new Mazda6 MPS variant, also known as the Atenza in other markets, although without any official word from Mazda, the renderings have been dubbed the Mazda Atenza Mazdaspeed Concept.

The renderings show a radically modified front bumper, featuring larger air intakes and a prominent front diffuser, which continues to the rear and sides of the concept. Most notably however are the omission of any form of front fog lamps which tend to adorn most performance oriented models.

Twin exhaust outlets and yet more aerodynamic elements complete the rear end, whilst the rolling stock is comprised of 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The original Mazda6 MPS featured an all-paw drivetrain, sharing the same turbocharged 2.3-litre engine from the Mazda3 MPS.

With the future of the potent Mazda6 in doubt, this early concept will serve to gauge consumer response when it débuts at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon.

Haw haw… sleeper no more? Looks fantastic I say!

  • Lcat

Nicely dressed! looks like 20″ rims?
If this concept becomes the actual MPS it will be a lot easier to pick it on the road from its’ siblings than the current MPS.
Let’s hope the go matches the show and it is tied down with AWD.

  • Ross

Front looks a bit Camry… esp lights + front grill…

    Rear looks good!

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

If this had two legs and was female and priced to move, well everyone would have one….

  • troy

    NOICE!!!!

LOVE the small rear wing, this thing looks like a old british supertourer!!

    sexy indeed!!

  • Ford4Eva

Looks more tacky then a TRD

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

LMAO LOL…more tacky then a TRD Aurion – yeah right you arent!

  • Myke

Pretty harsh insults people- it looks like a Camry and it’s tacky like a TRD.
Toyota takes the trophy for tackiness.

  • http://www.importjap.com/blog ImportJap

I’ll take one. Just wish it was RWD.

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

MYKE…TRD is king pin for fugly and this is better then TRD is what Iam saying

  • Myke

NM I understood what you were saying, I was commenting on what Ross and Ford4Eva said.

  • Bavarian Missile

Yep I see that too Ross…..hardly tacky!

  • Okii

looks nice.. but is just publicity lol

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

WOW Okii…hey yeah I never thought of that. This whole website pretty much is publicity come to think of it….CRIKEY that is an amazing viewpoint that stuns me.

  • Minnow

ha! mazda is going for that lame Fast and Furious look. With stupid low looking body kits. I can imagine it with a massive bottle fart sound and blue flames popping out of the exhaust with its boot full of 12inch subs… and the driver going utz utz utz. What a dodgy looking car. It doesnt even have the bonnet bulge anymore which was the most interesting part of the design. lame…

  • Bavarian Missile

hahaha NM…….I think its also about what the general public think of the “SO CALLED LEAKED DESIGNS” Just like those ones found at the tip from FORD…….yeah right! I guess they now know what we like and don’t like before it comes out,how convenient for their design team with those last minute changes!

  • golfschwein

Something about this doesn’t look genuine. Like the O/S wheels that have no space to go up and down. Until it pops up elsewhere with confirmation of Mazda involvement, I’d say it’s the result of some rice boys burning the midnight oil with their Photoshop.

  • Lcat

Perhaps you are onto something G’schwein, could it be a ‘con’cept?

  • Steve

From the front it does look very last gen Camry, refreshed.

It does sit a heck of a lot better on its legs though.

The rear doesn’t look like the camry though. I don’t like Camry’s swishy tail lights. Look like they got their inspiration from toothpaste ads.

But as I’ve experienced with test driving a lot of cars (I’m a closet case car reviewer that can’t find a job :p ) The Mazda’s are much more pleasant to sit in and drive than any Toyota. I’d rather the 6 over a boring camry any day. I don’t care what Toyota do to their engines. It’s not always just about power.

Looks ok! if it wasnt for those wheels it would be a bit bland though,, I still think current liberty GT-B looks better though…

  • Toyota Paul

NM your a joke mate. The TRD in the flesh (I doubt you’ve seen it…armchair critique) doesnt even look that much different from the regular Aurion, it has tasteful touches. This thing has a tacked on rear diffuser (tackiest thing Ive ever seen in fact) and a tacked on lip. FordAdvice would sound more appropriate for this place… anything Ford or Ford affiliated (ie Mazda etc) is praised while most of your other cars in the market (not talking BMW, Mercs etc… but ordinary cars) are attacked.

  • Me.

    TOYOTA PAUL IS BACK!!

Listen idiot, you are saying STFU to caradvice, so go away…
    ____________

JBOT IS JUST LIKE TOYOTA PAUL…BUT WORSE!

  • Me.

PAUL, I saw your ugly ‘TuRD’ today at Old Mac Toyota near Brisbane and it looks crap…Rather have a Mazda 6 MPS if I had to buy a FWD sports sedan.
    ____________

JBOT IS THE NEW TOYOTA PAUL!

  • Sexythang

oh which TRD does toyota paul have?

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

TOYOTA PAUL…you cannot help yourself being the drip you are. Do everyone a favour and sod off with your obsessive Toyota love affair and wake up to yourself as your comments are meaningless drivel (as was pointed out to you).

ME…think you are spot on about that other one named JBOT!

All I will say if there car brains collectively where a rubberband, it would not fit around a canaries leg….

  • LazyDog

Let’s just hope the stick the 3.0L V6 Turbo engine in it so we can comfortably get away from the MPS3!

  • josh

Looks MINT!! you’d have to be a homo to find this unattractive..
