Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG at 2010 AIMS
Update: Mercedes-Benz G55 Review.
Mercedes-Benz has exhibited the latest rough and rugged Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG wagon at the AIMS at Darling Harbour, Sydney.
It's a bit schizophrenic, this machine. One minute it's ramming through the bush in a very capable manner, digging itself out of ruts, ridges and river banks. The next minute, once it's dusted itself off, it's trundling the esplanade like a cruiser.
The wagon not only features an industrial-strength, straight-cut body, it also features a supercharged V8 with an army-tank-like torque output of 700Nm. Power figures read like a supercar spreadsheet, with numbers like 373kW pinned to it. It'll also do the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds, like a sports car.
Mercedes-Benz Australia will introduce the G55 AMG wagon as well as a G350 variant into Australia early in 2011. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
