22 years ago my parents bought a 626 Super Deluxe – it was probably the best appointed and built car in its class at the time.

My mother is still driving it today at 260,000ks, and it still feels as good as new. It’s had one head gasket, new rear shockers (adjustables via dash switch), brake pads, tyres and regular servicing, and last month had its first muffler replacement.

That’s a bloody good car, and the current ones have kept up the standard.

Mazda make great looking cars, that punch high above their weight when it comes to quality, engineering, design, aesthetics, standard features, and powerplants. They are affordable cars that everyday people aspire to own, and the sales numbers clearly back this up. The Mazda 3 is the highest selling car in OZ, if you exclude fleet and government purchases. The Mazda 6 has been a brilliant mid sized car, the CX-7, and RX-8 go against the “Built for the masses look” (Hint Hint Subaru), whilst the new Mazda 2, and MX-5 own their categories, with daylight in second. News will only get worse for competitiors with the pending arrival of the 2008 Mazda 6, and the CX-9. Bring on 2008.

I can say that as an ex holden service advisor, that the daewoo barina is not the sort of car u have without warranty. In all the dealerships ive worked in, when weve had mazda’s come through, we had no problems with them, even people i know with mazdas are suprised at how good they are, if u service them regually, theyll keep going. Congrats Mazda,hopefully one day ill be zoom zoom along in a rx8

Nice to see a car company having the guts to sell interesting, good looking, fun to drive cars when everyone else produces bland middle-of-the-road crap. Mazda deserves to do well.
