In response to capncrunch, I'd say that you'd love to have a rotary engine for many reasons, and if you ask why, you probably will be dissapointed.

Buying a rotary first shows your support for a very small group of inovative engineers in the automotive industry who go against the beaten path and bring you forth an original solution which consumes more, yes, but has fewer parts, makes for a smaller engine which, in turn, allows a placement in the car for a superb balance (weight is more centered, so less tangential momentum, which is not only great for handling but can help with security as well, as spins are more easily recovered for example).

And to top it off, you have an engine which makes a nice whirly sound.

It's not there to replace your ordinary commuter, but it's got great attributes for a sports car.

Cheers!

Why would you want to buy an auto rotary anyway?

Having owned an RX8 for about 2 years I can say it's a great car however it does lack a bit in the power stakes. If they were to put more power in the car it would certainly make me consider one again for my next car.

Love the room and 4 door design.

The ONLY think that has turned me off it the fact it does not go hard enough, and thats multiplied by 1000x in what i would buy, the auto.

Why the HUGE drop on already marginal performance?

Hope thats fixed, together with better fuel economy, and aklso NO NEED TO CARRY A BOTTLE OF ENGINE OIL AROUND for top up!!

All in all a top and novel vehcicle

MAZDA: A star in a sea of ford shit!!
Cheers

Let's hope even more that they turn the Furai concept into a prototype racer and return to Le Mans with it. Le Mans misses Mazda rotaries!
