Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS

Update 13/12/2007 - New photos added.

Maintaining our Aston Martin theme today (and why wouldn't we) comes news from Gaydon, England - the home of AM, of an RS version of the Vantage Coupe, complete with V12 engine!

The modified 6.0-litre V12, sourced from the DBRS9 production class racer, produces a very healthy 447kW, an increase of 164kW over the standard V8 Vantage. The engine is pushed deep in to the engine bay ensuring almost ideal weight distribution at 51:49 whilst conquering 0-100km/h in four seconds flat.

A significant reduction in mass has been achieved thanks to the carbon fibre weight loss program, seeing bonnet and boot lid replaced and all non-essential items removed. The car weighs just a tad over 1,500kg giving it almost 300kW of power per tonne.

Finished in the same Glacial Blue paint work as our road test convertible, the RS Vantage may be considered for a small production run.

The V12 Vantage RS is expected to cost more than Aston's flagship DBS (which should start at around $425,000 AUD when it lands in Australia in March.

You'll have to wait a while before we can review this one, in the mean time have a read of our V8 Vantage review.
