Concours d’Elegance Australia

Eye candy overload at Manly

There was some great driving at Bathurst yesterday, but if you’re more of a motoring enthusiast than a V8 Supercar fan, then you may well have been at the inaugural Concours d’Elegance Australia, at Manly’s historic St Patrick’s Estate.

On display at this spectacular Sydney location, was a truly outstanding collection of cars and bikes, valued at over $100 million dollars.

Classic motorbikes from the likes of Ducati, Norton and Triumph, were on display in absolute pristine condition and visitors could get up close and personal to each and every exhibit.

This was a prestige car show like no other, with the some of the finest examples of current and classic exotica, you’re ever likely to see in this country.

From Aston Martin’s gorgeous DBS Volante to a DB4 and classic V8 Vantage, the whole event was eye candy overload for kids and adults alike.

The Jaguar D-Type replica was attracting lots of attention, as was the rare SS 100, along with several E-Types.

There were plenty of Lambos on display too, including two of my personal favourites, the Miura and Urraco, as well as a Murcielago and Gallardo.

Ferrari and Maserati were also well represented, with the latest 599 and Gran Turismo, but classics like the 288 GTO and Maserati Mistral, also featured at this event.

I seriously doubt there is a tougher looking muscle car than the exotic De Tomaso Pantera, certainly another favourite of mine.

There was a beautiful old 1921 Alfa Romeo G1 Sports Roadster, along with a classic 2000 Alfa Spyder and Fiat Abarth 1000

The organisers even flew out former F1 racer and five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell, for the event, who was in fine form and looking younger than ever.

I suspect this event will grow larger each year and organisers and exhibitors are to be congratulated for running such as classy and thoroughly entertaining show.

Enjoy the pics.

    Oh very nice very nice

WOW! If i would have known about it i would have attended. Next year they should ramp up the marketing and let the crowds flood in! Why not, when there is so much excitement to be had simply by looking.

Same here…. feel abit ripped off not knowing about this before.

Held on the same weekend as the Bathurst 1000? Why? Do they think ‘motoring enthusiast’ and ‘V8 Supercar fan’ are mutually exclusive? Makes me wonder how the Pantera driver got past security.

    • Radbloke

Yes. Real motoring enthusiasts aren’t usually bothered about a ghost-class series raced in the middle of nowhere on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon.

Bathurst is a lovely race track and it’s not really in the middle of nowhere, but I concur wholly with your opinion on the V8 Stuporcars

Not quite up to Pebble Beach standard, but impressive nonetheless. Is there anything similar to this in Victoria? Would love to go.

No, Sydney is definitely not California. It’s an uncultured hole full of surfer bums and queers. (oh wait, that also describes California :D ). Queensland would have been a much better choice.

Its obvious you wern’t there. Style & elegance on display

I really, really enjoyed it yesterday. It got a little hot towards 2, but man was it worth it! The Rapide alone… Cannot wait for next year!

The car parks were also interesting; the ‘petrolhead’ theme was certainly there!

Firstly – Anti-spam word is “Proton”?? Come on.

Secondly, you can all disagree with me if you want, but the 288GTO is the most beautiful vehicle ever produced.

Hmm, I’m a bit keen on that Bimota Tesi, as well. It ain’t Laverda Jot-type pretty, but it’s interesting.

      “Jota”. That should say “Jota”
