GTA Spano out and about in Spain

Spain’s only Supercar, besides the IFR Aspid, was again the centre of attention last weekend, in an event called "Super sportscars in Cantabria"

CarAdvice has been following the progress of the Spano, ever since we scored one of the first test-drives at Valencia’s famous Ricardo Tormo circuit, in 2009.

That said we think it’s about time GTA Motor, the racing car constructor behind the Supercar, started to build some production cars, given the keen interest in the vehicle in Europe.

The figures are impressive. 0-100km/h in less than three seconds and a top speed of over 350km/h, is what the factory has published. Impressive as these numbers are, they will need to be properly tested.

Powered by a version of the V10 from the Dodge Viper and mid-rear mounted longitudinally, it develops 780 HP (581 kW) and a massive 920 Nm of torque.

Assisting with traction, are 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inch at the rear, shod with 255/35’s and 335/30’s respectively.

Stopping power is courtesy of AP Racing carbon ceramic ventilated discs with 6-piston calipers.

Hopefully our next update on the GTA Spano will be from Spain, in a fully-fledged production car.
