2011 Volkswagen Eos gets Golf GTI 155kW engine

Volkswagen has just announced the new Volkswagen Eos model year 2011 release which comes with an upgrade in the engine compartment. The new Eos is now available with the same 2.0-litre TSI Volkswagen Golf GTI engine.

The engine is known as a potent yet fuel efficient turbocharged four-cylinder outputting 155kW of power and 280Nm of torque. Not only does it have this much torque though it's also very versatile; 280Nm available between 1,700 and 5,200 rpm.

In the Volkswagen Eos the engine allows the car to do the 0-100km/h sprint in just 7.8 seconds. Not bad for a small convertible. While it showcases relatively sporty figures, the engine remains quite fuel efficient too, returning 7.4L/100km in fuel consumption in manual form (7.9L/100km with the automatic DSG gearbox), and emits just 173grams of CO2 per kilometre (184g CO2/km with the DSG).

The 2011 Volkswagen Eos is still also available with the 2.0-litre TDI 103kW turbo diesel engine, but all the new models see the addition of new 17 inch alloy wheels, Vienna leather interior with heated front seats, and a range of new exterior colour options.

Pricing for the 2011 Volkswagen Eos remains unchanged from the just-superseded version; $46,990 for the Eos 103TDI and $48,990 for the Eos 155TSI, excluding on-road costs.
