2011 Pagani C9 spy shoots

Our spy photographers recently caught Pagani testing its latest creation, said to be called the Pagani C9, in southern Europe.

Right up in the mountains, our sources say the new hypercar was doing some high-altitude testing. The car looks completely different to the current Zonda with more rounded panels and edges and a lower overall profile. At the same time though, it's easy to see the pedigree.

Carbon fibre everywhere, front guard-mounted side mirrors, and the traditional roofline that slowly droops down to the engine cover at the back, all traditional Pagani styling cues.

Sources say the C9 will be powered by an AMG V12, like all previous Paganis, sporting 6.0-litres of capacity and outputting a speculated 520kW-plus.

Taking a look at the side profile, we can see the front overhang is short with the overall bonnet looking slightly squashed. The base of the windscreen almost touches the front suspension strut top position as well; a unique design to Pagani.

The back of this prototype isn't equipped with a rear spoiler, whether the production version will or not is open to speculation. Check out those tradition deep-dish rear wheels though, sporting fat-as-hell rear tyres.

Notice the additional vent behind the front wheels, possibly an extraction duct of some sort. Pagani is yet to confirm a release date but reports say to expect production to commence in 2011.
