Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG wins auto motor und sport most beautiful design award
German motoring publication, auto motor und sport, has conducted a reader's vote to find out what are the most beautiful new cars around today, and it was the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG that received the most votes.
Out of 21,000 readers taking part in the survey, plenty of them also voted for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, which took most beautiful 'Convertible' category. The new E-Class was noted for its open-air four seat environment whilst also exhibiting an elegant exterior design.
Picking up most beautiful 'Sports Car' though was the magnificent Mercedes-Benz SLS 'Gullwing' AMG. The design which was modeled on the original 1950's Gullwing expresses swooping curves, a glorious long bonnet and those unmistakable 'Gullwing' vertically opening doors. It's only a bonus that the new AMG SLS also includes an astonishing 6.3-litre V8 outputting 420kW of power to truly top it off.
Professor h. c. Gorden Wagener, Head of Mercedes-Benz Design, recently said about the awards,
"We design cars which stand out through their refined sportiness, innovation, beauty, sensuality and uniqueness. The SLS AMG and the E-Class Cabriolet visualise all these brand values and establish a clear brand identity.”
Well done to Mercedes-Benz. There was a period there when the company lost its majestic philosophy. These awards only remind us that the company can design elegant creations, just like the classics of the past.
