Coda Automotive CODA EV now available in California

Coda Automotive, a small Californian electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced it is now accepting deposits for its new EV sedan which is called, funnily enough, the CODA.

The Coda CODA will have a fairly hefty price tag of US$44,900 but the Californian and American federal governments offer incentives which bring the overall price down. Reports from America say once the incentives are deducted the CODA will put buyers out of pocket by only $32,400 (about $34,000 Aussie).

Coda Automotive says the car will also be available on a lease plan from the selected 'dealers' the cars will sell from. Coda doesn't have a specific dealer network though, so it will sell the cars through selected environment retailers and education centres throughout California and Hawaii.

It's an interesting concept that companies out there are trying to break into the electric car business, and we're sure this car will perform just fine as a generic 'car', which is all many consumers want. No fancy bits.

Initial deposits of $499 are now accepted, and interestingly, it's refundable in case you change your mind... or fall asleep from boredom.
