Kia Soul and Kia Sorento Australian recall now official

By Brett Davis |

A couple of weeks ago we mentioned the global Kia recall that was announced concerning a wiring problem that could cause heat problems, affecting the Kia Soul and Kia Sorento. Kia Australia has now confirmed the recall for the Australian-sold cars.

Kia Australia says it has the replacements parts for the recall issue and will rectify the issue free of charge. The initial global recall was issued due some reports of the speaker wires heating up to the extent of possible danger.

The wires specifically are those fitted to the optional speaker lighting system that pulses in time with selected music. Kia advises affected car owners to call their local Kia dealer to book an appointment to have the wires replaced.

Cars that are available with the speaker system that could be affected include; the Kia Soul with a build date between September 7, 2009 and June 8, 2010. Specific chassis numbers are:

  • The Oracle

Well, I think the world would be a more beautiful place if the Kia Soul was off the road. My God, they are ugly!

  • mrfree

I think you are too old to understand Young Generation.
    Be stay with Camry please.

    • The Oracle

Judging by the few that Kia have sold, I would suggest that it is Kia that doesn’t understand the market. There are obviously only a few punters that are prepared to be the butt of ridicule by driving one.

PS The only time I drive a Camry is when Hertz or Avis give me one. I would prefer to drive a Camry to the Epica I was given last time.

Did you know its the Camry buyers that are actually buying the Rukus not Gen y.
Gen y dont get it. or is it that they actually have some taste?

  • bangel

Iam with you oracle , only seen one ,and it looks totally stupid , designed by a committee .

No doubt it will quietly slip off the market soon .

  • no

KIA probably jumped up and down for the recall

give their vehicles otherwise non-relevant publicity
