2008 Ford Fiesta spy photos

The Ford Fiesta is up for renewal. The Fiesta has seen changes every two and a bit years and given the current model has been around since the beginning of 2006, a new one is just around the corner.
Taking a great deal of inspiration from the Ford Verve concept-car that we saw at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the production-version Fiesta is currently undergoing testing at various locations around the globe.
The blue oval plans to attract a younger group to the Fiesta and according to company insiders the car will be radically different to the existing model. We just hope it’s not as radical as the AU Falcon.
Judging by first impressions, the supercar-wannabe front headlights should generate a great deal of interest with the iPod-generation (which includes most of us here at CarAdvice). The rear light assembly is similar to Hyundai’s new i30 (which is in turn similar to the Germans).
As you can see from the photos, the 2008 Fiesta will come in 3 and 5-door guises and will feature a solid B-pillar.
Although the car is expected in European showrooms mid to late next year, there is no official word on an Australian release date yet.

I like the integrated turn signals in the side mirrors! Ford seem to be making some good product at the moment with the Mondeo and this new Falcon we have seen so much of.
I agree with Tony, Ford is on a roll. The Mondeo looks great, the Fiesta pics seen on this site so far indicate it will also look very good. Just hope new Falcon (Orion) brings home the trifecta.
I know spy shots are nothing to the real deal. But it looks like they got a Lotus Esprit and pushed the doors closer together. Sqeezing it into a more upright position. LOL

Too hard to tell anything from those photos will wait for photos of production model before ill judge…
It will be interesting to see how this new model is received in Australia. In Europe it’s the top selling car in it’s class (although I think the Fiat Punto is nipping at its heels) but in Australia it has been largely ignored by the press. I drove a diesel one in Holland last year and thought it was awesome; so much more playful than the dreary Yaris, which is (let’s be honest) more of a pensioners car.

i agree. same goes for the focus,
ford brought both the focus and fiesta here because they were easy number one sellers in europe.
one thing they lost in doing that was consumer familiarity within their small car range. even though they have a far better package than the number 1 seller its the lack of recognition of their product here in OZ that hurts them.

problem with ford mondeo and fiesta is the mazda 6 and mazda 2. ford products designed in europe usually handle better than its competitors but 99% of buyers wouldnt know the difference in terms of driving dynamics. so as long as the features are equal, most of these potential buyers will just decide by the looks and reliability.
not many buyers who go for toyota would be looking at ford or mazda
