As seems to be the norm with performance concepts lately, the Concept-RA is created utilising efficient performance philosophies, equipped with an environmentally friendly high-performance diesel engine.

Displacing 2.2-litres, the four cylinder turbo diesel engine features Mitsubishi’s MIVEC technology, piezoelectric injector common-rail direct fuel injection and a Variable Geometry turbocharger, delivering 150kW of power and 420Nm with exciting driving manners and impressive fuel economy.

To meet US emissions standard, the Concept-RA relies on a new catalytic converter system that brings together diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), NOx trap catalyst (NTC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies.

The coupe concept features the S-AWC vehicle dynamics control system driveline and Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in Lancer Evolution.

Adding to the S-AWC driveline are Active Steering and Active Suspension control to the existing Active Center Differential, Active Yaw Control, Sport Antilock Brake System and Active Stability Control which are monitored by the S-AWC system for optimum traction, braking and handling.

The body is constructed from an aluminium space frame which both improves crashworthiness and reduces weight.

As with all concepts, it will likely be a watered down version of the painting. Even so, I kinda like it.

I love the flared arches, but the rear is a little derivative - sort of Boxter cum Lancer.

Going by looks only, it could be a GT-R competitor. Alas, it only has a diesel. Maybe next time.

wow! that looks stunning! There is alot of mitsubishi eclipse in the way the guards and roof line are done (sadly the eclipse is only sold in the US) and it to me sorta looks like a blend of evo lancer/eclipse/awesome and i love it!

maybe mitsubishi want to be the first to make a proper diesel sports car, but alas its probably more of a “styling study” then anything else, maybe its a pointer to the next generation eclipse or something

It’s the perfect blend.. a bit of EVO Lancer [Front]; a bit of Audi R8 [Profile]; a bit of Porsche [Rear]; and a bit of Veyron [Flares].. or possibly VE Commodore.
All blended together rather nicely for a change.

What is it with Mitsubishi?! Why copy Alfa’s rear for the Lancer, and now copy Porsche’s rear for the concept?

Is it so hard for their design studios to come up with something original?

The front looks ok, but the rear is just awful.

Front end is blended in right and not dysfunctional. WTF is going on with rear spoiler and letterbox thin slot rear tailights and as for back window it seems to be too far forward and longish rear boot (this maybe computer generated image issue).

Momo I’d really love to see a car these days which doesn’t look like something before it from certain angles.

  8. Momo Says:

KC, as you know of course, look is subjective. What looks unique to me can look like something else to you.

But regarding the concept pictures above, myself, Karl, and Wheelnut all find the rear looks like a Porsche.

Personally, if for example you look at an Aston Martin and say you see a Toyota from certain angles, then I honestly can’t help you.

  9. Jbrien Says:

The rear spoiler looks like a 4th gen eclipse while the rear bumper is like an evo x. Its far more too good looking than a porsche’s butt. But the front intake looks an s2000. By the way, the Car is sure Nice Looking!
