Mitsubishi Concept-RA global premiere

Mitsubishi will premiere its edgy new Concept-RA to the world at this years North American International Auto Show in Detroit (and we'll be there!).

As seems to be the norm with performance concepts lately, the Concept-RA is created utilising efficient performance philosophies, equipped with an environmentally friendly high-performance diesel engine.

Displacing 2.2-litres, the four cylinder turbo diesel engine features Mitsubishi's MIVEC technology, piezoelectric injector common-rail direct fuel injection and a Variable Geometry turbocharger, delivering 150kW of power and 420Nm with exciting driving manners and impressive fuel economy.

To meet US emissions standard, the Concept-RA relies on a new catalytic converter system that brings together diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), NOx trap catalyst (NTC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies.

The coupe concept features the S-AWC vehicle dynamics control system driveline and Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in Lancer Evolution.

Adding to the S-AWC driveline are Active Steering and Active Suspension control to the existing Active Center Differential, Active Yaw Control, Sport Antilock Brake System and Active Stability Control which are monitored by the S-AWC system for optimum traction, braking and handling.

The body is constructed from an aluminium space frame which both improves crashworthiness and reduces weight.
