WA Police car doing burnouts

By Alborz Fallah |

Update: A 30-year-old first-class constable has now been suspended over the incident.

We could write a 500 word article to go along with this video, but we’ll just let it speak for itself.

All we know is that it occurred in Western Australian and Police Media are working hard to put a spin on the story.

So far the excuse they have used is that the number plates are now on another vehicle so tracking the culprit is hard. Also according to WA Police, the incident is at least six months old and could have occurred up to 4 years ago.

anyone can put flashing lights with a siren and a few stickers on their holden and it would look like a police car!

  • Grumps

Ooh, is it time to start the police bashing again guys?

It occurred on private property so no traffic laws were broken.

However, the coppers involved will be disciplined internally, and rightly so, because the morons allowed it to be recorded.

I must remember that police are not like everyone else and prone to moments of idiocy.

  • Falcon Crazy

Looks like fun. Who knows the whole scenario. It all looked organised, people behind the fence etc, but when he came back through the gate and gave it a bit..opps.

Still, give me a private paddock and the ute loves to get sideways…Love circle work

  • Jason

Nick, it is a police car, confirmed by WA police. As for Police being people, absolutely, it looks like heaps of fun! Just wish they would let us do it too :)

  • Say it how it is

Seems like CarAdivce in anti-police… not the first article about this kind of thing. Is this a responsible stance for such an organisation?

  • arsenalroc

    bahahah
egg is the face of the “anti hoon” government!
wonder if he will be prosecuted like every other criminal:P
    dumb cops:P:P

  • Bavarian Missile

Arsenalroc ……..spot on ! I guess we know what the Geraldton cops get up to when their bored ha!

  • geoff

funny how the police will give lame excuse to protect them self and thing it good enough but when we do the same thing its not good enough. wounder whether he got fined and demerit points taken off ????

  • Bavarian Missile

Wonder if they got their car impounded like we would have?

  • Say It How It Is

Correct me if Im wrong but if you do that kind of thing on your only public property, not a public road, there aernt road rules so I dont think you’d get ‘impounded’. Looks likw its in the middle of nowhere… lets not put the same brush over the THOUSANDS of cops because a dozen, who were bored in woop woop, had some fun

  • Say It How It Is

    private property

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au/ alborz

The cop has been suspended and could potentially be sacked.

  • Captain Mainwaring

Looks harmless enough to me, and cops need all the car control practice they can get.

  • Darren

They should have just called it “an exercise in public relations”. Looks harmless to me.

  • Momo

I agree, cut him some slack, a cop is a human after all.

  • Me.

Being a Holden, I bet it’s diff is broken now.

NO Sorry! To me it seems the pigs suspended him for using a police car for fun.

  • arsenalroc

momo- cut him some slack? how about cutting me some slack when i got booked for going 5km/h over?
    i am human after all:P:P

  • Bavarian Missile

We get a hard time in the West from Hoon laws! This just seems double standard! When were in the middle of woop woop they really come down on you if your doing 10ks over the limit! Theres generally nothing to hit but the heights out there too!

  • Momo

Arsenalroc, getting booked is little bit different to getting sacked I think. Its cost public resources to trained a new police officer, and sacking him also punishes his family who has done nothing wrong. So I don’t have a problem overlooking little incidents like this myself. Send him to boring desk duty for a couple of years probably do the trick.

As to why you got booked for speeding? How the fark would I know?!

  • http://navelcontemplation.blogspot.com/2007/03/i-don-get-fashion.html supercujo

The only thing this constable did wrong was to use a cop car for the circle work. If he had been in a private vehicle, then this would not have raised an eyebrow.

Hate of cops for blindly going along with the speed kills mantra is justified, but hating on a cop who did something stupid on private property is not.

This cop should get raked over the coals, assigned to foot duty in Northbridge for the next 2 years and go on his permanent record. He should not lose his job. If this happened on a public road, he would have been breaking many laws and then getting kicked out of the Police is a justified punishment.

If, under the stupid Hoon Laws, this turns out to be illegal then I’m sure myself and a lot of other people who had some free time on a farm with a car or motorbike in their youth can also be charged.

Grumps, these moments of idiocy you speak of, reckon that’s a fair excuse to get out of having my car impounded next time I have one?

  • Rob
  • KnOath

I’ve had many friends in the police most speed and break the road rules as much or more than the average Joe.

The older ones less so but the guy’s under 40 often drive their police and private cars outside the perscribed laws often they drive faster in the police issued because they can get away with it easier.

I used to work for a government service department it used to be so bad that the cars that had motors rebuilt could not be returned to the police as they would thrash them before the motors were run in.

Most HWP cars had very low engine life due to the way they were driven. You could tell which stations had the most lead foots by the condition of the cars.

  • Bavarian Missile

Now aren’t they saying he did it at some Country Show! He was asked to show his driving skills in front of the public without permission beforehand !

If thats the case its a different kettle of fish!

  • David

More of a dust storm than a burn out on bitumen.
Burn out fiends are universally dumb in or out of uniform.
Not worth the sack but deserves to be disciplined as his actions if done at a Country Show without permission means a breach of Occupational Health & Safety may have occured.
Did this guy think of this?
How many decades has OHS been talked to about?
    He probably hasn’t a clue.
After viewing the video Bavarian & Supercujo have it in the right context.

  • Minnow

lol i think the cop got over enthusiastic towards the end. But otherwise there was no harm done.

The wa police are saying it will be hard to find the driver because since then that cars code was assigned to a four wheel drive. So that car was probably at the end of its lease and the cop thought its fine to give the old car a bit of stick! Give the car a good farewell after a few months of service for the community.

IMO that cop should win an award. Tool of the year.

  • Minnow

Oh! who knows it might create a boost in police recruitment… there can only be positives from this :)

  • Bavarian Missile

Seems this was a country cop thinking he was doing the right thing for the community when asked……….I now feel sorry for the guy.! When we were living in the Gold fields driving a blown XA we were not picked on by the local Police…….they did take a look at it at the local car show to go wow at it though. Yes it was illegal in this state but hey we didn’t do the wrong thing at the wrong time and they appreciated it……hell when I was selling real estate for the Professionals it had a HOME OPEN SIGN on the front of it!

I did feel like I was in a scene from mad max once when a group of bikes came up behind me on the Kambalda straight! True story!

  • Me.

The QLD cop cars are now changing to a more pommy look. The first one I saw was at Charlotte St Police station in Brisbane’s CBD, now they’re spreading out all over the place.

  • enthused

police should be setting an example. in the west we are hounded by overzelous traffic cops. i was charged with dangerous driving for not indicating around a parked car. i ask you why is there one set of rules for them and another for us. police wonder why they are loosing the respect of young people. there is your answer.

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

Stupid cop…dare say he will be in the poo up to his eyeballs if he keeps his job.

  • Me.

Welcome back NM! What have you been doing when you were away from this site?

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

  • Bavarian Missile

Kevin07 recession o8 hahaha, not funny really! Dollar has dropped this week……..not good ,good for exporters not importers! Good to see you came back NM. I have sent you off a Chrissy card!

Apparently the town where this policeman is stationed is rallying around him cause they feel he was unfairly treated!

  • Anthony

Apparently this was at a country fair and he did it as an entertainment event at the show.

  • Bavarian Missile

Yep I know……….now knowing this it puts a different spin on it…….I feel sorry for the poor guy!

  • GhisGT

    Crush his car!

  • Bavarian Missile

Hes now been reinstated! As he should.
