BMW most sustainable manufacturer for the sixth consecutive year

BMW has done it again. It's the sixth year in a row but BMW has managed to secure the top position as the most sustainable car company of the year.

A report by SAM Group evaluating the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) showed BMW Group to be the only car maker to be included in the list every year since it began in 1999. And for the sixth year in a row, BMW Group was named Supersector leader, the only German company to be ranked in the 19 Supersector leader's list.

Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, recently said about the accolade,

"We are delighted to be recognised by the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. This independent ranking confirms once again that the BMW Group plays a leading role in the automotive industry of the future."

BMW Group has been focusing on sustainability as its core strategic principal since 2000, and continues to do so by developing more fuel-saving technologies, fuel alternative vehicle concepts as well as green production process that involve the use of environmentally friendly methods and recycling.
