2011 Lexus IS F to pass Euro 5 emission standard

By Brett Davis |

The 2011 model year Lexus IS F will receive a Euro 5-accepted engine which will meet the emission standards. The 5.0-litre V8 has been revised to pass the strict levels so the car can continue as a strong competitor in the German-dominated market sector.

Passing Euro 5 emission standards means the car can be sold in the European Union member states. Euro 5 standards were introduced in 2008/2009 and won’t be increased or outdated until 2014 when the Euro 6 standards come into play. The standards are, in a nutshell, an accepted amount of emissions allowed to exit the exhaust of a given vehicle.

Minor changes to the car’s exhaust system and engine mapping were made to meet the standards. Sources say the car will still be able to offer the same performance levels, such as doing the 0-100km/h sprint in under five seconds.

The new car will also get slight revisions to the interior including a centrally-mounted rev tacho, improved side-bolster seating in the front as well as minor trimming changes with dark silver inserts.
