2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe rendered speculation

By George Skentzos |

BMW has unveiled just enough of the forthcoming BMW 1 Series M Coupe performance flagship for at least one self-proclaimed “resident photoshopper extraordinaire” to produce several accurate renderings of the super coupe.

A member by the name of Alpine325ci from the ‘1ADDICTS‘ forum has produced these stunning renderings based on the latest teaser video released by BMW, along with various other spy photos.

It draws much of its inspiration from the current BMW M3, including the gaping front splitter and rear end arrangement complete with quad-exhaust outlets.

In BMW’s own words, the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe is set to rekindle the same lightweight and pure performance spirit of the original BMW M3 which has become bloated with luxury features.

The BMW 1 Series M Coupe will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged straight-six engine as the current BMW 135i – albeit with a few more horses coaxed from the powerplant by BMW’s M Division.

I’m impressed the title doesn’t read ‘unveiled’.

Also looks tough, the rear fenders in that first pic arnt realistic, but i expect that front and back shots to be near on correct.

Looks tidy in the rendering where it’s white. However in the pic where it’s directly head on, those lights still make it look like a stunned cat. As a potential 1 Series M Coupe buyer, it may not be a deal breaker, but it sure couldn’t have hurt for them to improve the front end styling (other than the front bar). It would be a no-hesitation decision had it been made a little more sleek. I do like the other aspects of the design, in particular how muscular the rear half of it is.
