2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK spy photos
Mercedes-Benz spy photos seem to be the theme of the week, a few days ago we brought you images of the next generation E-Class and today we have the first spy shots of the next generation CLK taken in Stuttgart.
Based on the gorgeous new C-Class, the new CLK is not only bigger but also appears far more elegant than the outgoing model. The model pictured is the CLK500.
Little is known about the new CLK but we imagine a great deal of chassis rigidity testing is taking place to meet Mercs’ expectations. However there is no reason to expect surprises in the engine lineup with powerplants being sourced from the C-Class.
Sources say the CLK is still a good 2 years away from the European market so Australian deliveries should start late 2009.

Merc are producing some very tasty cars these days and the C-Class is particularly well priced, as long as you stay away from the options box.

Btw, CLK is basically the ‘Real’ C class coupe and Mercedes is charging for E class money. CLK is really a money tree isn’t it? I guess people buy CLK for its looks and style??

Who are the unnamed “sources?” Driving a barely disguised car full-fledged car built on an existing platform (C-class)that won’t be out in Europe for 2 years? This is not how Mercedes does things and makes no sense in light of the competition from BMW’s 3 eries and the Audi A5 and S5. I’ll bet you’ll see the 2009 CLK unveiled at the March 2008 Geneva show (the same site as the C class intro) and it will be available fall ‘08 in Europe and the US.
