also worth noting about the different types of paint used on sports cars, especially on older Porsche’s which use a gloss coat with no clear coat (or lacquer) and much more susceptible to UV damage causing oxidation, dull, cloudy & chalky paint. Protecting these types of paint through the use of UV-preventing sealants are key to maintaining a glossy, deep colour finish. Zaino & Car Lack are great sealants with UV protection & very durable results.

Interesting topic and one which I am pleased but surprised to read about as people often forget the ‘minor’ details such as running costs. The point that supercar detailing makes is also the point where I specialise in and is surprising how few people put the time or effort in to looking after their supercars or luxury vehicles as more often than not they are their second largest asset, following closely behind their house, which Im sure receives alot more care and attention than the moving bank outside!

People seem to forget the wear and tear that the paint of the car takes. Some attempt to clean the car themselves causing damage to the paint..

Car valeting is a term we are used to hearing. This is basically someone else cleaning your vehicle to a certain standard, but this is where valeting stops. Detailing involves extreme car cleaning, cleaning parts of the vehicle that wouldn’t normally be cleaned. A detail is far more extensive than just washing and drying and will often involve many steps. Main goals are typically beautification and protection, but also include other areas such as minor paint repair and surface restoration as well as thoroughly cleaning the engine and under chassis, wheels, tyres, trim, door and boot shuts.

Surface restoration is primarily achieved with the use of high speed machine polishers with varying polishing compounds and pad structures to remove swirls, scratches, holograms and revitalise faded paint.
