mmmmmmmm wonder if it was the same auto I had in my Volvo V 70 ?

I know how you feel, although in Volvos response I did drive it hard . Volvo replaced the first one under warranty but when the second one died just before its lease ran out we got a good secondhand one for $1800 and got rid of the car at the end of its lease. Saying that I would still buy a Volvo again, just not front wheel drive ;)

I have a XC90 I purchase in Oct 94 with 80,000klms driving to school and sports and the transmission has now gone. Volco advised it will cost $6,000 to fit a new one with 12 months warranty and they will apay half of this out of the goodness of their heart. This car cost $90,000 new and I find it hard to imagine as a mum I could break the auto transmission so quickly. This problem appears to be big in the America but no-one is talking about it in Australia. My expectation for a car of this standard and price range is a transission that last for a lot longer. Has anyone else had this problem??? Thanks Leah
