2010 Citroen DS3 Racing official details and pricing

The highly-anticipated Citroen DS3 Racing details have just been released, along with official European pricing. Citroen says it will only production 1000 editions of the sporty hot hatch which is scheduled to arrive early in 2011.

Citroen hasn't done a hot hatch for quite a while, but with this the company has taken all of its knowledge attained from dominating Citroen presence in the World Rally Championship, and poured it all into this chunky little power punch.

The engine is a turbocharged 1.6-litre four cylinder, outputting 154kW and 275Nm. These highly-strung figures help the car to achieve a 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 235km/h. The car also has various handling aids, such as sports suspension that is 15mm lower than the Citroen DSport variant.

Four-piston brake calipers keep the car under check during heavy deceleration while the front and rear tracks that are 30mm wider than the standard DS3 give it a sturdy fat stance. On the outside the car gets 18 inch colour-coded wheels, a flamboyant bodykit and rear spoiler.

The car is only available in two colour schemes, both pictured; black and orange and white and grey. Pricing in the UK is £23,100 (AU$40,000), which would put it up against the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works edition, the Subaru WRX and Volkswagen Golf GTI, once taxes are applied.

No word yet as to whether any 'Racing' editions will make it to Australian shores. The standard Citroen DS3 will go on sale here in October nonetheless.
