2011 Pagani C9 passes Euro 5 and US emission regulations

Pagani has released some information about the upcoming Pagani C9, the Zonda replacement, which has just passed Euro 5 emission laws and 2013 Californian emission regulations. Pagani has confirmed the C9 will go on sale in the US.

Unlike the current, top spec, Pagani Zonda F model, the new C9 will utilise turbocharger technology to help reduce the company's overall emissions. This approach has obviously worked with the new car passing even the most stringent emission laws in California; EPA and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, previously unachievable.

Pagani has always sourced its engines from Mercedes-Benz tuner, AMG, and the new C9 will be no different. Company founder, Horacio Pagani, has confirmed the C9 will use an AMG 6.0-litre twin turbo V12, likely to be borrowed from the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. Although the engine will output around 515kW instead of the Merc's measly 450. Torque figures are expected to protrude through the 1000Nm barrier, too.

These images show the car being tested using various Zonda body pieces and some new elements, such as the new rear hunch air intakes and engine snorkel poking up through the middle of the engine compartment. There's also a revised front bar with big aggressive 'shovel' air intakes at each corner.
