Not everybody hoons, and if you think everyone does then speak for yourself. statistics show that out of 400 drivers whose cars were impounded were mostly male and only 4 were female. this article isn’t stating that if you have a nice car it is going to be crushed it is stating that if you are caught being a hoon you will have to suffer the consequences. I am sick to death of hearing about losses on our road because of hoon drivers. this laws need to be tougher to stop this ridiculous craze. The article in the Herald Sun of October 26, 2006 state that hoons are not getting the message. If you feel the need to be a lead foot and put others in danger then fine but you must suffer the outcome leave it on the race track isnt it better to hoon in a control environment such as calder park then to be on the streets were innocent bystanders could get hurt.

i drive a classic “hoon” car i have a toyota supra and its all 100% legal the only mod been adjustable suspension.i got pulled over first day i had it and the copper even said to me to watch out for the highway patrol guys cause they will defect me for it been too low even tho she found nothing wrong with it.
another story in my old school falcon first week on the road after 3 years of restoring driving down the main street cops do an illegal U-turn at the traffic lights and pulled me over for a “”random”" breath test (after i decided to be a smart arse to them and go round the block to end up behind them) then tried to defect a 45 year old falcon i near sedan, he told me to make the exhaust quieter (nothing wrong with it) so i didnt fix it i saw that same copper several times after he pulled me over and he never agin pulled me over to tell me to get my exhaust fixed.
are they trying to discourage us not to mod our cars when they have modified patrol highway cars supposedly to catch us hoons i guess. but do cops have nothing better to do than pull over a car that has obviously had tousands of hours and money spent on it. the amount of times i get some guy in a little hatch back with fusion stickers on the back window,coming up beside me at the lights wanting to race in lasers or protons or something.
but seriously crushing a car for an offence is rediciolus, if more events like off street drags were organised and the RTA and NSW police got on top and promoted and sponsered them, then everyone will be happy cause hoons wont have to race on the street to see if they can beat that car.

Dear Baz and other likeminded people maybe your should do some research before you open your mouth and make yourself look even more ignorant and stupid then you already appear.
There were 169 hooning-related accidents involving injury and property damage in the period 1999 to 2004.

According to road safety statistics of the Queensland Road Safety Authority (Queensland Transport 2005) they indicate that there were over 100,000 accidents in Queensland in the period 1999–2003 and therefore represent roughly one quarter of one per cent of these accidents, yes that right – 0.4% of all accidents in QLD were coursed by hoons!!!

my car and my mates car was taken off us for alleged street racing and we sure werent which really pisses me off the most i worked so hard for my car and they just took i away for no good reason i admit i love to thrash a car here and there but when i get accused for somthing i did not do it really gets me goin ,,, plus they did not have us on camera or radar and they didnt even confiscate our license nthis is just ridiculus but i am fighting it in court i have fou witnesses has this ever happened to any body if it has let me no what you went through so that i can prepar for this shit!!!!

I wonder if all the opponents to this legislation would take a different view if their best friend, mother, brother or grandma etc etc were killed or left in a vegetative state by these reckless idiots. Pull your head in, take a look around, families are being destroyed by the carnage on our roads. Its simple, dont do the wrong thing and you dont lose your car. These laws arent tough enough do deter all you dickheads
