2009 Ford Focus ST Facelift

Due to hit showrooms in March of next year as a 2009 model is the new Ford Focus ST available in both three and five door models. When it arrives in Australia it will more than likely take up the XR5 Turbo label.

The stylish front grille is matched by a revised tailgate with integrated diffuser and dual exhaust pipes which leave no question as to its intentions as a performance hot hatch.

Ford have given in to temptation by featuring a starter button in the upgraded interior, which includes a new centre console, 230V power outlet and audio jack.

A set of 18-inch wheels completes the look, while integrated front fog lamps may mimic those found in the as yet unrevealed Orion.

Powering the face-lifted Focus is the 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo engine which remains untouched, still developing a healthy 166kW and 320Nm.

Expect a spirited 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds.

Looks much better…I wouldn’t even mind a falcon front end similar to that. I hope the falcon does mimic the front fog lights.

A fantastic looking new model, brillant colour to, we have the latest Focus in our garage and love everything about it, compared to an Astra, which we had sadly driving for a couple of months overall the Focus has more quality and refinement more than most cars I have tested myself in this category…

Looks good from the front,,but the back looks same as the
old model!!, good engine but needs to be all wheel drive
to get the most out of the power,,I still think for the
money the new WRX is a better car,,would have better resale
too and has AWD,boxer engine and 5 star safety ,the looks
of new wrx are growing on me too..

I read some where that on the focus you had to replace the brake rota’s at 30K….if that is true hope they update the rota material as well. Most of these European cars have very soft pads and rota’s making them expensive to service in very short intervals.. The front end looks good though

Part and parcel Anthony of having a car that stops well. You can go aftermarket with parts though !

  16. Steve Says:

Brake rotors are starting to become a throw away consumable item, just as much as pads are. Sad but true.

The Europeans use a softer rotor because it bites better with the pad material. Their theory is to get the best out of the brakes as possible, even if it means replacing discs every few years.

Is it just me or have they put a crease in the doors and scolloped the rear hatch under the window? to me thats changing something for the sake of it. They dont realy improve the looks.

I’d mutch rather see the money spent on ford “focus”ing on bringing in a quick diesel. Something like the Golf GT deisel with 125kw and 320nm.

    Front looks good though.

Manufacturers give us what we demand and we still complain,I have no problem with replacing rotors after they have been machined just once, my only complaint is brake dust……could they make brake pads white ? I hate cleaning
    wheels!

Vote: Add rating 0  Subtract rating 0
  19. Going Ford, Is The Going Thing Says:

Brake rotors in Fords seem too be made out of softer metal than the pads. I know 2 BA Falcons that needed machining before the pads needed changing. If anyone is changing the pads when the rotors are a bit rough, MACHINE THE ROTORS, because next time they will be worn out too much. After they’ve been machined, they should be right.

That looks brilliant I must say! I have no real bias to any brand and Id be proud to be seen in that. I hope to be in the market for a car in this category shortly. Meaning gti, xr5, vxr, mps or wrx. This would definitely be a must drive.

However last night i drove and was driven in, a new wrx. I wasnt sure id like it, didnt much like the old one. I loved it! Chris Parr is right, 4wd is a big advantage when you have this much power. Anyone bagging out the new wrx needs to drive one, i wasnt a big fan really but now its at the top of my wish list without a doubt and ive driven the vxr and mps… Back to the focus though.. Looks absolutely awesome and if its out before i buy ill be taking it for a drive. Yeah more power would be good but again, at the moment they are a well balanced car but there’s a limit to how much power you can put through a fwd chassis and they’d be silly to ruin what is essentially such a damn fine thing in the current xr5..

Its as Ugly as sin itself going for is buying sh!t.
And the word going around is the Orion WILL be the last ever rear wheel drive Falcon. Just proves the insight Holden had to concentrate on overseas markets with the Commodore along with Australia where it will be number 1 seller for at least the 12 straight year. Ford Falcon at number 6 in October and Combined Camry and Aurium total still falling at least 500 units short of the Commodore.

^^^thanks for your valuable contribution, thank god holden has supporters like you. Without which holden would have gone bust a long time ago and left the other car manufacturers with an armada of special needs retards like yourself behind the wheel of their cars. Now, instead of a ’special needs person onboard’ sticker, we can just use the holden badge instead. It makes finding you on the road so much easier, so we can remind you to swallow and wipe the drool from your chin before you drown yourself.

Remember Football, Meatpies, Kangaroos & Rehashed Vauxhall Omega’s. GMholden fell arsebackwards on the count of them taking the Vauxhall Omega of 87 as their template for the VN-VZ commodore. That meant it was already engineered for right & left hand drive. “did you know that a 96 vauxhall door will fit straight on a VT-Z?” That’s hillarious.

I use the word engineer lightly because what they did was use a half height firewall. Any more special it would need round the clock care.

This coupled with the fact that all other gm cars the mid east might take were rubbish beyond belief meant that a car designed in europe during the late 80’s and built in a colonial outpost in the new millenia was the perfect choice to spearhead GM’s market in the Middle east.

Back to the Focus. Drives good, Engineered good, looks good.

When the VW chairman drove a FOCUS before the launch of the GOLF MkV he immediately went back to VW binned the torsion beam rear end (like the ArSTRA’s FMKH!)and got the engineers to hurriedly put in a multilink rear end. Cost them lots, & even though they run at full capacity they have trouble making money because of it. VW are now hurriedly bringing MkVI to market to reign in the cost.

So not only is the Focus a good car its managed to kneecap the opposition.

just put some dust shields on your discs. i got them standard on all 4 wheels with my falcon and the mags never get brake dust on them. the down side is you dont get to see the calipers though.

    4. Trivia treat for Trackdaze: the rear door on the XD to XF Falcon station wagons was interchangeable with the American Ford Fairmont wagon of 1977. Yep. Just the rear door (the one at the back of the car), nothing else. If you’ve ever wondered why it looks like it doesn’t belong, there’s your answer.

we fully see the facts to your comments. SEEMS LIKE SOME NUMBNUTS ON HERE ARE INTO AVERAGE UGLY CARS….I LOVE TO BE NOTICED, INSPIRED, IMPRESSIONABLE AND INDIVIDUAL AS MAKES JOURNEY AN ADVENTURE AND NOT BORING LIKE WATCHING PAINT DRY OR NODDING OFF. OTHERS JUST LOVE THERE CARS AND WOULD RATHER BE SEEN IN CAMRY AHEAD OF A SVELTE LOOKER LIKE A VEYRON OR A HOT STUNNING LOOKING CAR! Its sad that in the states FORD goes down road of square boxed up you beaut uninspiring devoid of stunning svelte looks ugly cars that is like major eyesore. Now for go stuff…..FORD is turning corner and will have a formidable stable of classy cars and Focus 2009 model is step into light and out of the dark tunnel that FORD have been in. Like I said – there is KA (CGI on this website), MONDEO (hatch and wagon), FOCUS (sedan, euro wagon and hatch), FIESTA (sedan and hatch), VERVE (sedan and hatch), IOSIS, IOSIS X, KUGA, NEW FALCON HERE IS COOL AS NOW, CAPRI (two versions have sighted on net), F250 REFLEX, VISOS.

Good things are around and if you find better looking cars that smell of eye catching….get it. The Focus you have there looks like insane ugly! Does Ford sell well over there as would find it impossible to see cars selling at all! Especially when non-euro look and have no sweeping kinetic flow to designs!
