Thieves steal a Ford Falcon, leave two Rolls-Royces

By Alborz Fallah |

Thieves in Perth have stolen a red 1971 Phase III GTHO Ford Falcon Sedan (Rego: 71 HO) worth more than $600,000. The event took place on Monday night at a workshop in Perth’s north-suburban Osborne Park.

The workshop owner must have felt pretty safe, having parked two Rolls-Royces and a late model Holden GTS Monaro in front of the Phase III. The thieves moved the other three collectables (and a Honda Odyssey) to carefully extract the Falcon.

They did not steal the Royces or the Monaro – obviously Ford fanatics.

That is an absolute disgrace. It will probably not even be worth the trouble for them. I hope no one is low enough to buy it from them. If they keep it for themselves, just locked up 24/7, it’s a real shame.

  • jbot

Sure it would be nice to have one, but not being able to show it off to anyone????

  • Glander

sounds like an insider job to me!
I feel sorry for the owner, unless he had it stolen for the insurnace money? But I doubt it!

  • Adam J

So what do they plan todo now? Ride around in the farm? Or wait 10 years and then make it reappear out of a “forgotten garage”, hey that might just work

  • woz

OMG !!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Give it back ****heads

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

Hope they find the GT-HO, that car has alot of value there.
That sounded like a well planed robbery and also the GT was easy to steal there, although they did move other cars.

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

Yes woz, it scared the sh*t out of me too when I saw that link.

  • Bavarian Missile

Car was for sale……….but I doubt he had it stolen!

What are they going to do with it,even if they paint it another colour the VIN is registered on the GT Register so its worthless! They may as well give this one back like the last one that got stolen a few years ago! If they plan selling off the parts ,questions will be asked where the parts came from. So what rebody it and put a NORM BONES fake plate on the new one and keep the original in a safe? Those that look at Phase 3 now get experts to check them out, your never going to be able to sell it!! I guess all the GT clubs in Australia would know now,all the members in W.A were notified last night via email,so people are looking out for it! Plus I guess police will be looking for any containers leaving for overseas!

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

HEY, It might of just been Jealous Holden fans that were upset after what happend at Bathurst in 70 & 71. God what took them so long? Goes to show how slow Holden is, LOL!!! :)

  • http://www.importjap.com/blog ImportJap

Going Ford. When are you going to grow up man? The Holden jabs are getting long in the tooth, especially as they’re on every single post. Then you have a whinge if someone says anything at all that can be interpreted as against your beloved Ford. LOL :D

These thieves probably have more success stealing the HO than the Rolls just because of the anti-theft systems on the Rolls. Plus how many people have a Rolls?

That said, I doubt they’ll get far with a genuine Phase 3, a 600k plus car (only 100 or so left). Ass kicking soon for these punks.

I just hope they don’t decide to destroy the car, you know what thieves are like. If they do, who’s up for some vigilante justice? :D

  • tonyn

ill be up for that… anyone who steals a classic…. or any car and vandalises it deserves all us car pervs to string him up!!!

  • David

    Amazing,HEARTBREAKING to lose anything irreplaceable.
What hope do you have of off loading something like this & not get caught? It would be near impossible.
First thing you would ask youself if presented with an opportunity like this or any car.
Is it stolen or subject to possible repo?
No doubt the LMCT’S would not touch it.
Any value in circulating engine/body ETC numbers here?

  • Andrew M

im guessing they had to have the keys to move the rolls so they could have easily stolen them too.

maybe they are holding it ransome? they surely would know it would be useless to try and sell it.

where is Mel Gibson he will sort em out ha ha ha ha

  • Bavarian Missile

Hey Importjap they actually moved the Rolls and the $10000 GTS Monaro {late model}to get to the HO.

    Karma will get them !

  • Bavarian Missile

Make that a Hundred Thousand dollar Monaro.

  • http://www.importjap.com/blog ImportJap

They broke into the Rolls?? I’m very surprised, those things are like Fort Knox. Sounds like the Monaro was the cheapest of the lot :D

  • David

    So no car alarms??

  • Flying High

car thieves are arseholes. pure and simple. never an excuse. never ever ever. f*ck the pricks who do this sort of shit.

  • Bavarian Missile

No idea………still waiting on more details?

  • http://navelcontemplation.blogspot.com/2007/03/i-don-get-fashion.html supercujo

Wasn’t this the car that passed in at auction for $600,000, and the seller wanted $750,00? For a car he only paid $250,000 for less than 5 years ago, tidy profit.

I have my doubts that this was a real robbery. But innocent until proven guilty I suppose.

  • Bavarian Missile

Nope this was Vermilion Fire, guy had it for sale for $620,000,why do people always think the worst? The one your thinking off was GREEN I think !

  • http://navelcontemplation.blogspot.com/2007/03/i-don-get-fashion.html supercujo

    Thanks Mr Missile.

We get suspicious because a car like this has no value on the black market due to the strictly monitored situation with the old GTs. They should have taken the Rolls or the Monaro and sold them on for a lot less hassle.

  • Toyota Paul

The only explanation I could think of is someone has ordered this vehicle on the black market… so the robbers get the cash and the purchaser keeps it for their own personal use.

  • jbot

What has happened to the site??

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

Sorry if anyone thinks this is off topic.
But this HO was not $1mil like that one on ACA. So I hope owners of standard XY GTs don’t cart them around in bank trucks with the army around it just to take it to one place to another because they think it’s almost $1mil dollars.

  • Bavarian Missile

    Mr Missile???????

  • Bavarian Missile

    I am not a MR ……..sorry Supercujo!

Sites been down again……Alborz will be Pissed!!!!!

Cross the fingers they find the car and the toe rags that took it!

Maybe Paul……..but from my experience they don’t think?

  • Sexythang

best way for getting any value is to ship it to other countries. locally it would be worthless or at least no where near 600k price.

question is that they could move the RR’s without tripping anything off. also makes u wonder how safe is your car when its overnight at the workshop.

  • jbot

The more I think about this, the more it seems like an inside job. It isn’t exactly easy to get into two Rolls Royces and a Holden GTS Monaro (presumably all with alarms of some sort) to move them. I’m sure if you have a $600,000 car you would have security in the garage too…

  • 280zx

ToyotaPaul just give it back !!! LOL

  • chris

Toyota paul that sounds like a story line from a movie I saw once???????

  • GhisGT

One less of such an icon of past Australian motoring history.

Devastating to see such an irreplaceable muscle car disappear. The car is useless to the thieves, but so valuable to the Australian Ford community.

Bastards. I’m sure they will get theirs in the end.

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

How did the posts from last night get up top? And also this site was different too.

  • Bavarian Missile

Yep I know some weird stuff has been happening lately.

  • Going Ford, Is The Going Thing

Wonder was that anything to do with Toyota Paul, because someone pointed out Paul been banned for 24hours in the same subject about the site going down last night.

  • John

Easy to move cars in a workshop after hours. I went in years ago after hours to pick up a car we had bought. It was getting detailed in the workshop, where all sorts of desireable cars were sitting around. Went into the dealers office to sign a few last papers before taking our new baby home, and there on a board behind his desk leaning against the wall was all the car keys for every vehicle on site, neatly labelled on pegs…
As long as a thief could get into the place, and knew what they were after, the keys would be there somewhere for the taking, and no car alarm would be set off if you use the cars own keys to unlock and start it…

  • Bavarian Missile

I think from memory a workshop must have the keys on the premises for insurance reasons, really must be in the ignition
in case of a fire ! Dumb I know but needed if the place goes up in flames.

  • paul

i feel sorry for you the best Australian muscle car ever made you must be devastated people who take other people cars have no respect and are nothing but scum thay will be judged for what thay do life has a way of getting all of them in the end
    very sorry for your loss
    paul

Just reported on the news another GT has been stolen…….this time a XWGT !!!!!Toe raggs

It is utterly disgusting that anyone would steal such a priceless car, I am convinced the owner is heartbroken by such a callous act of such callous and disgusting animals who have no concern for other’s feelings and property! The Owner should post the car on the internet in North America.
A strange thing happened to a friend of my parents. My mother was a artist and wood carver and she carved a beautiful bush scenery with a grizzly bear onto the stock of a custom left hand long barrelled gun for a Hunting Guide. Then one day somebody stole the gun from the Hunting Guide’s truck. It was gone for over 12 years. Then one day some creep committed a crime and all of his guns were confiscated including this left hand custom rifle. It made national news in Canada from east to west. And no one new who the gun belonged to. A retired Game Warden remembered vaguely of Hunting Guide in British Columbia who used a left handed custom rifle and called the Police in eastern Canada and the gun was returned, the owner was pictured on the front page of the newspaper holding his prized high powered left handed custom rifle with the beautiful carvings. The moral of this story….hopefully somebody will see this beautiful car and call INTERPOL and see to it that the RIGHTFUL OWNER gets his prized car back. Donna
