Not real happy with my 200 series TD. I look after my vehicles and have done everything by the book since i bought it new 12mths ago. (my 3rd landcruiser) Only city driving (no towing), I had the oil light come on at 18,000ks. . I checked and no oil showing on the stick. Toyota dealer had me complete a form which I was told they would use to 'monitor' the situation. Then told I had to have the 20,000k service then and there. Was told the new european emissions rulings mean motors are designed to comply with this ruling and thus are designed to use more oil?? Doesn't seem to me that could be right because mine used 1.5 litres of oil in 8,000ks???? Then at 20,000 ks the fuel filter light came on. Took it straight to a Toyota dealer who told me this was quite common and while there another 200 series came in with the same problem.. They cleaned the filter and drained the unit for any water. 100 ks later the warning light came back on again.Watch out..Toyota told me that checking the fuel filter is NOT part of a scheduled service...and wait for this.. They told me that you just have to wait till the light comes on then take it to your nearest Toyota dealer...! Real good for the alleged 'King off the Road!! Going back in to Toyota in the morning to try and get some sense out of this.

I have brought a June 2009 VX Land Cruiser 200 series 89K. I don’t have the satellite nav screen or all the controls on the steering wheel, also have the Toyota badge on the bonnet like the Mercedes. Does any one have more information on this model and did I pay too much?

Hi David, that vibration is still there in 50% of vehicles produced and most of them are Diesel. Toyota still deny that it is a problem.

I about to buy a turbo 200 series. Have had 2 80 series and 2 100 series and my current 100 turbo diesel has been a fantastic car. Am really worried about all the comments on this forum re dust, oil and fuel economy and the clunk. Most seemed to have been fixed. But the vibration is a real worry. Has that been sorted on cars built in late 2010 and early 2011 ?

Just happened 35 min ago that Toyota has announced a safety recall of more than 116,000 four-wheel-drive Hilux vehicles across Australia.

Let the people speak for themselves:

You look in the papers and the prices for second hand Landcruisers are out of control, they are huge.

You look in the Nissan section for example and you can get one for really cheap and they are in the papers for weeks.

I think the fact that these 4wds are still selling for crazy prices speaks for itself, they are great cars. I looked for a 100series Turbo Deisel for 6months. Everytime one went in the paper it was gone that week. If they are still selling for high prices and are going quickly in the papers surely Toyota must be doing something right.

i own a 2007 first batch LC200 and i do not have the cluck and to not have the steering vibration. for the first 15,000KM my LC did consume one (1) liter of engine oil between the 5000KM services. now it has done 30,000KM, it has no oil consumption problem at all! i am using shell fully synthetic engine oil (5W-40). fuel consumption is 11.8L/100km 100% urban. 9.2L/100KM highway. i am a very very pleased LC200 owner. cheers!

A new 2010 200 series landcruiser WHAT a joke,
Problem it is less than 4000 kn old
this car fills with water in side, less than 2 min in the water and the so called 4 whhel drive starts filling with water in all doors
it should have can with flippers ,snorkel and a mask, no need for the engine snorkel because if your in water that deep uder dash will be under water first,
Toytoa's responce NIl, the customer service people didnt even return there calls
i was with a friend that has a 20 year old Paj they didnt fill with water,
it also has a dust issue to, inside leaks dust toyota say leave the fan on full blast, great just what you want from a $80,000 four wheel drive a dirt bowl and a bath tub on wheels

Hi Tank
Do you have a scanned copy of the Russian technical service bulletin regarding the vibration issue? Replacing the transfer case seems like a major issue.

Does anyone have an update on the special engine mounts for this issue ?

Re oil consumption, I just had my vacuum pump changed to 29300-0W052. Will update later, was using 1 litre per 2000km (should be more than 8000km per litre).
Incidentally you don't need to do 3 x 1000km tests (4 visits!) you can do just one 3000km test as per the form.
