Next-gen Honda CR-X

A few weeks ago we discussed the Honda CR-Z concept as the next potential candidate for the next-generation CR-X, as of today, we can take out the potential bit with confirmation from Japan.

There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the CR-Z, most importantly, no one knows what hides beneath the bonnet. Honda says it's a hybrid powerplant, which makes us think it's a similar system to the one used in the Civic Hybrid, but that could potentially fail to live up the CR-X's reputation.

Rumours from Tokyo suggest the CR-X will run on a tuned 1.3-litre hybrid unit borrowed from the Civic hybrid. Power is expected at around 88kW but with an enormous 363Nm of torque, all of this while using just 3.5 litres  per 100km!

The rumours seem a little too good to be true considering the enormous torque figure, but considering electric motors are known to provide massive and instantaneous torque, it may just be true.
