My dealer installed data dots, but there were not data dots warning decals in their kits. Same with all the dealers around here. I checked online, and the video on their site shows the decals (not the ones w. the serial number that quickly bake off in the sun - but the actual "Protected by Data Dots" stickers). Phoned and e-mailed the corporation, and they confirm the decals do exist and should have been included. They promised to ship them to me. Still haven't seen them - tho we've exchanged numerous e-mails. Basically, if someone steals my car, I might get it back (can't seem to confirm they've got my numbers on file, either - tried that several times) - or I might not, but I can't warn anyone not to steal the car this way. So... still need window vin etching.

Yeah WRXs' have had them for abit I think... true to the thief has to be aware for it to reduce theft, or else you still lose your vehicle and have to HOPE they can track the criminals (I would say very unlikely unless you car costs $100k+... cops Id imagine would put much effort into finding a $40k WRX for example).

I think the key to it is knowledge. If the thief is unaware this is on the vehicle they can be tracked more readily, though if they do know it's there they may not steal it in the first place... tough one really.

Either way, it's good that someone is thinking of another way to help reduce car theft as it's not a nice experience.

This is a great step foward making it harder to steal and break up a car.
Tho give ir a few years there will be a way around it :(
