Koenigsegg Agera to challenge Veyron Super Sport’s top speed?

Christian von Koenigsegg is not a man to be reckoned with. He's one of the few people who have both the will and the means to knock Bugatti of its record-top-speed perch. And according to reports, his aim is to do just that, and his new Agera is just the machine to do it.

Speaking with TopGear magazine, Koenigsegg found out about the Veyron Super Sport's 431km/h record breaking feat just days after it happened, despite it being under embargo. He then proceeded to wonder out loud about places where his company could test the Agera's top speed.

“They have a good test track, Volkswagen – but they wouldn’t let us use it, of course,” said Koenigsegg. “Maybe they would before there was such a thing as a Bugatti Veyron. But not now.”

CarAdvice tested the Koenigsegg CCX last year on our Full Throttle tour of Europe, and knowing how well that car responded at speed, and the fact that the Agera is several notches up on the motoring-insanity scale, it comes as no surprise that Koenigsegg's latest machine could well be the one to top the Veryon's top whack.

Christian von Koenigsegg's personal mission to have the complete supercar was also evident when we interviewed him. A calm, down-to-earth man, Koenigsegg is also extremely passionate about his cars. His competitive nature tells us that he'll be compelled to make sure Bugatti sits in its rightful place - under Koenigsegg.
