2010 Nissan Dualis+2 released in Australia

Nissan Australia has released the 2010 Nissan Dualis+2 – the seven-seat derivative of the Dualis Series II which arrived in April.

At 4541mm long and 1645mm tall, the Dualis+2 is 211mm longer and 40mm taller than the standard five-seater Dualis and has a 135mm larger wheelbase. Luggage space increases to 550 litres while the loading height of the trunk has been lowered by 13mm to 770mm.

From the A-pillar back, the front door window frames are squarer along the roofline while the rear doors are completely new with squarer frames and are longer by 135mm, improving ingress.

The lengthened and flattened roof provides an extra 10mm of headroom and gives the Dualis+2 a taller profile.

The rear side windows are larger for improved visibility and comfort for third-row passengers, while the new tailgate features a deeper rear window, revised bumper design and an increase in opening dimensions from 962mm to 1186mm and.

The middle row of seats can slide 240mm in a 60/40 split to aid access to the rear and the seatbacks fold in a 40/20/40 fashion. The third-row seats are designed for passengers no taller than 160cm and can be folded completely flat when not in use.

With both second and third rows folded down, capacity increases by almost 1000 litres to 1520 litres.

At around 100kg heavier than the five-seat Dualis, Nissan has revised the suspension settings and retuned the steering assistance for the Dualis+2, and has also fitted larger front brakes.

The 102kW/198Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine is unchanged from the one found in the standard Dualis and is available with only the CVT. Combined cycle fuel consumption is 8.5 litres/100km in two-wheel drive form (8.6 litres/100km for the part-time all-wheel drive) while CO2 emissions are 199g/km and 203g/km respectively.

Safety is five-star ANCAP rated with Vehicle Dynamic Control (Nissan’s ESC), six airbags and active front seat headrests and seatbelt pretensioners.

The entry-level ST gets steering wheel-mounted Bluetooth handsfree phone, audio and cruise control functionality, power windows and MP3 compatibility while the Ti model adds a panoramic glass roof, leather seats and steering wheel, 18in alloys, rear privacy glass, six-disc CD changer with six-speakers, intelligent key and dual-zone climate control.

Nissan Australia managing director and CEO, Dan Thompson, said the hatch styling of the Dualis+2 meant it was likely to appeal to more than just the people-mover market.

“We are targeting active urban families who probably have only one or two children. But those children have friends and they have grandparents, meaning that a family outing can now be undertaken in one car,” Mr Thompson said.

The 2010 Nissan Dualis+2 is in showrooms now starting at $29,990 for the ST, $34,690 for the Ti 2WD and $36,890 for the range-topping Ti AWD.
