With internet sensation Ken Block defecting to the Ford camp, the blue oval is taking full advantage of its newest acquisition to help promote the new Ford Fiesta as more than just a city car.

In this television commercial, Block proves that his Gymkhana-spec Ford Fiesta is still as practical as it is fun to drive by taking out the trash, posting the mail and driving to the supermarket.

The ad is appearing on US television – with powerslides and all – just as X Games 16 kicks off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with names like Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust and Samuel Hubinette competing.

At this point you can’t help but imagine Subaru is kicking itself over losing Block, especially as it prepares to launch the more hardcore versions of the WRX and STI.
