Hummer H3T Ute (pickup)

Falcon and Commodore ute owners beware, if real men drive utes, then this beauty is going to be a massive ego boost. Seriously though, a Hummer Ute? We’d like to send a prize to whoever came up with this.
The all-new HUMMER H3T is now a reality. Troy Clarke, GM Group Vice President and GM North America President today announced a $73-million investment in the company’s Shreveport plant facility for the H3T.
“It is the brand’s first true pickup. Like every HUMMER model, the H3T delivers capabilities unparalleled in the marketplace and will carve out a new niche in the truck market,” Mr Clarke said.
According to the company, the H3T is larger than a midsize truck but smaller than a full-size. Maintaining the aggressive looks that have made Hummer an icon worldwide, the H3T is not just a show pony, it utilises a fully functional truck bed sure to attract a whole new audience to the brand.
Engines available for the ute are not confirmed, however we’d imagine they would remain the same as the standard H3’s 3.7-litre inline-five or an optional 5.3-litre V8 (the V8 is only available in the U.S. for now)
The H3T is set for sale in the U.S. market towards the end of 2008. GM Premium Brands Australia (in charge of Hummer here) has been contacted for comment regarding potential sales of the H3T down under.

Hmm, never thought I’d say this, but I can actually see use for this car, it would be perfect for the Hilux crowd, it would kill the TRD Hilux (not withstanding the Hilux driver torque steering into a ditch first)

Great idea! I think this one would be a big seller for HUMMER here in australia given our love of utes.
Although I really hope they release this with the V8 here, I can’t image that 5 cylinder engine going well against the “real men drive (V8) utes” idealogy.

That roof is hilarious. Wow, that is actually a good looking, and will surely be a very competent and practical ute, particularly with a V8 or diesel.

It is too big, heavy and cumbersome to drive through bush, this was built for city driving in mind, bogans wouldn’t want the paint scratched anyway, so who is petrol guzzels GM trying to kid..
Woz – do some homework before making stupid statements. Its built on the same chassis as the already available H3.
That will make is smaller in overall size to a Ford Territory or a Landcruiser. As for off road capabilities – how wide do you need the tracks to be? The H3 has a smaller footprint than the current Landcruiser but has the best appraoch, departure and ramp over angles in its class.
I took my standard Auto H3 off road last week with a brand new Patrol Turbo diesel and a landcruisr and on climbs both struggled on but eventually made it (on the 2nd or 3rd attempt) the H3 cruised up easily. It sure opened the eyes of some initially very sceptical people in my group thats for sure.
Love my 75 series landy… and was consideirng getting the new turbo V8… but might hold off a little as this looks promising.
Great job Hummer, smart looking and hopefully will be released in oz with a good engine and decent price.
It has definatly gotta have a v8 in it, anything less is sacrilege. People lookin smaller engines to save petrol are also people who are lookin to buy cheeper cars too. this car is not for them. The beefy look of this ute has gotta have balls behind it preferably the big 7.0 litre I’d put my order in for one today
