Late 1950′s, High School, dream car was a MB 300SLR. Silver, black inside!
2010, almost retired, dream car is MB SLS AMG 63, silver, black inside!!!!
Nothing has changed……….still can not afford one, but it is a dream!!!!!!
Who gives a toss if Dubai has oil, who cares if it is too expensive? We all dream, Packers and Smorgons, Fox and Co., can, and we can’t; but we can dream!!!!!!!

“to do the dirty work and the servant work” believe me they earn far better than you , those people earn nothing and sleep on the street on their back home such India, pak and Bangladesh.

So mate if you could stretch your budget to $140k that puts the C63 AMG $10k beyond reach just because of the LCT, let alone Merc options, rego and stamp duty etc.

No one’s going to borrow an extra $20k just for the sake of a car – something that will be worth $40k in a few years.

P l e a s e Santa I promise I’ve been good. Oh, and while you’re at it, I’ll need a new home because the doors won’t open in my small 2 car garage. Last month was going to sell the home and live in the baby Roller, now I’m not so sure.
Bride doesn’t like either idea but I can always get another one of those.

Yeah, why can’t we be like Dubai, which can do without serious taxes because it has all that oil and hardly any people and hardly any space, and has a supply of people in more or less slave conditions to do the dirty work and the the servant work.

Oh, and which needed to be bailed out by Abu Dhabi when the GFC hit.

Real countries have to have an economy other than “sell oil”, need things like health and education systems for millions of people, can’t treat workers like slaves, etc, and to pay for that you need tax. End of story.

If you can afford a car a C63 AMG you can afford the LCT on it. If you can’t, you had no business spending that much on a car to begin with.

I really doubt that people who have cars they can cash in under that scheme are exactly going to be paying LCT…

(and stamp duty is a state tax, not Federal, so Gillard’s budget doesn’t get anything from that).

Not that the scheme is very good. But seriously, that is the lamest possible attack on it.

I heard the sound of the glorious SLS AMG V8 last Saturday. It is worth the price of admission alone. I’m not denying a Ferrari sounds great but there is something very special about the sound of the SLS. The crackles and pops in the exhaust note as your foot is lifted from the accelerator are delicious.

At Mercedes-Benz Sydney dealership last Saturday I spent some time admiring the SLS AMG on display there. The drive away pricing is advertised next to it as $496,000.

That is 458 Italia Money. I’d be hard pressed looking past the Ferrari for this even though it is quite special.
