I have owned my 2008 BMW 335i since September of 2008. The recall issues with the high pressure fuel pump are well know, and I had my share of problems. Each time that I took the car in, I was told that the software needed to be tweeked. Finally, when the recall came out my service advisor told me that he had know all along what the problem was with my car, but that BMW would not pay for him to replace the high pressure fuel pump. Cold comfort to me. Even after having the recall work done I continued to experience problems with the car, so I took it to another dealership. They told me that the previous dealer had only changed the fuel pump and that the fuel injectors should have been changed at the same time. They proceeded to change the injectors. I continued to have problems with the car. Today I was informed that I needed a new “low pressure” fuel pump. However, according to my service advisor the part is not in existence anywhere in the world and will have to be specially manufactured for my car. I have now officially reached the end of my patience with BMW. This was once my “dream car” but now I consider it my nightmare

The top photo looks just like my 335I in Sparkling Graphite, and since I took delivery of my baby at the Performance Driving School in Spartanburg SC, I escaped the plate drilling of my front bumber allowing me to drop the license plate dead center underneath the bumper for an awesome look... The "Troutman" above speaks of the check engine light. This happen to me, and the cause was "BAD GAS!"..which usually pops up more when gas prices get very high. See; the gook rest at the bottom of the tanks, and the stations allow their tanks to get extremely low before the refil. So we pump their gook into our tanks and when our fuel level gets low, the gook goes through our engine's fuel system which does not burn clean, so it trips the emissions-which trips the check engine light (this is not an injector problem- it's a ghost fault, this is why the mechanics can't find the error) ...some stations do a better job of removing the gook from the bottom of their tanks than others but again when the price of fuel rises, I actually look forward to my check engine light coming on ESPECIALLY if the fuel level remaining is less than 2 gallons of fuel. Other than the drop in power (to prevent damage to the engine--a smart design I might add), I would just pull over to run a quick computer check (5 seconds), then I would shut her off for 5 seconds, restart her and go>> the check engine light immediately resets itself and I'm driving again under full power! My baby is a manual, but that should not matter even if it's an automatic. The Germans' build the best automobiles (my fifth) and as for the WRX, it could never be a BMW, and if speed is my need, I'll buy a bike; respectfully.

Front-end alignment. Check wheel alignment with triple clamps. If out of alignment, fork geometry will be incorrect and steering will suffer.

I have owned a 3.35i for a year. When it works its great. In the past 7 months I have had 3 engine warning lights. This means no power and a long stay in the garage. What is no power? - Its being overtaken by a volvo towing a caravan.

So far all the injectors and the fuel pump have been replaced and my dealer has no idea what is the cause of the problem. I have read of similar problems in the USA.

If you want to get stuck in the bundu in a shiny metal tent then this is the car for you.
