Video: Ferrari spied driving on the street in unknown car

By Brett Davis |

Could it be the sequel to the 612 Scaglietti? Maybe it’s a Ferrari 458 convertible. It could also be a California GTC coupe, possibly a track focused version. Or, could it be the new Ferrari Dino previously spied (pictured below) in 2008?

Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what it is exactly? It was spotted in Maranello recently cruising down the streets. Speculators say it sounds like it’s powered by a V10 engine.

It appears to be a California from some angles. There’s also a hint of 458 Italia in the flat nose design and headlights. The camouflage/design-distorter decking arrangement on the back window makes it look like a hatch of some description too.

*The car in the image above is not the same as the car in the video, as per headlights and rear end

    Convertible 458 Italia. My guess.

    • Grammar Nazi

I disagree, it looks front engined, and there’s not enough body after the B-pillar.

Too small for the 612 replacement as there doesn’t look like there’s enough for the +2 seating (and a boot!), so my money would be on 599 replacement.

Yeah I’m with you on that one. The head and taillights are like the 458, and the hunchback camo is similar to what Maserati used while testing the GranCabrio. I’d put my money on the convertible version, but the question remains of different engine sound. Perhaps it will debut with a bigger engine to combat the weight gain, like the Audi R8 Convertible? Or the exhaust is different to the 458?

Audi R8 was released with the V8 before then V10 get your facts straight

    I was thinking 575 Maranello predecessor…

    • Shak

predecessor means the car that came before the one you mention. I think you mean successor.

      • Dale

I just fell out of my roflecopter and into a lolcano :)

      • Joker

LOL, Right you are Shak :) Agh, word selection fail :P
Anyway- I didn’t actually get a chance to look at the video til now and Grammar Nazi is right, it has the 458 Headlights that stretch back over the wheel arches..though that camouflage gives it a similar profile to the Maranello still. It may not even be a variation of the 458, just that same form of styling in line with Ferrari’s current design philosophy.
        @Dale, at least you’re easily amused ;)

i think ferrari put that ugly front bumper on to make it harder for us to guess

  • Fenno

    It’s probably a Maserati.

  • Car-Enthusiast

Looks Front Engined. My guess is a replacement for the 599 or 612, with similar lights to that on the 458,
