2007 Chrysler Sebring Cabrio
Chrysler is raising the roof in the convertible segment with their all-new 2007 Chrysler Sebring Cabrio.
Built on the company’s new platform, the Sebring Cabrio is available in both hard and soft top models.
It will be the first Chrysler to arrive in Australia with the new six speed automatic and V6 powertrain, both of which will make their way into the Sebring sedan.
“The Sebring cabrio is a great American full four seat cabrio made from the same DNA as 300C - a modern classic,” said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler.
From head-on the Cabrio almost exactly mimics its sedan sibling, however its side profile has been lengthened to allow for both storage space for the roof and usable cargo area.
Inside, the Sebring Cabrio is all class, featuring the trademark analogue clock surrounded by dual heating and air conditioning vents.
A locking glove box ensures items are safe when the Cabrio is parked topless whilst dual storage bins ensure items are kept safe whilst on the move in the open air.
A standard Black or Taupe cloth top is available on Touring models and as a first for Chrysler, a body-colour painted retractable hard top on Limited models.
The Sebring Cabrio has almost done away with the four-seat convertible stereotype, offering a relatively roomy interior for both front and rear passengers.
A switch conveniently located on the instrument drops the soft top in 27 seconds, whilst the hard top takes slightly longer at 30 seconds to either raise or retract.
The new 2.7-litre V6 engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick, producing 137kW or power and 256Nm while achieving an economical 9.7 litres per 100 kilometres.
Standard on all Chrysler Sebring models are four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) bundled with Brake Assist and Traction Control.
The Chrysler Sebring Cabrio will be available in Australia from December 2007 in two models: Chrysler Sebring Cabrio Touring and Chrysler Sebring Cabrio Limited.

My question is, considering all the good to excellent cabrio cars available, why would anybody bother with this?

This has to be the ugliest cabrio on the market. The only place it may fit in is in a Walmart carpark in Denver Colorado with some obese couple waddling back to it filling the boot with a trolley full of cherios and oreo’s. How very vulgar americana….

It’s got the same issue as the Holden one…the Tigra is it ?
A big long arse, which throws off the proportions, along with the almost atypical US styling, of trying to make even a smallish cabrio look like a big huge hummer car.

Tony, the Eos is not good at all.. rattle everywhere and the TFSI engine shut down itself while the car was on the move. It’s a terrible experience from me driving the VW.

I sat in these cars at the Sydney motor show - there isn’t a soft piece of plastic to be seen near the dashboard for a thousand miles. This interior is Cold War Russia build quality.
Hard, flimsy and very very low quality. I was a bit stunned at how crappy it was - thinking that the Americans think this is world class stuff?
The new Hyundai i30 left all the Chryslers for dead as far as visible build quality goes!!!

‘Free on roads’!
then,
‘Drive away pricing’!
‘Free metallic’
‘Free stereo upgrade’!
‘Five grand off’!
‘Free holiday vouchers’!
and finally,
‘Run out deals’!
Twenty years ago Chrysler factory workers referred to their customers as ‘PODS’, or ‘Poor Old Dumb S###’s’. Nice to see the old design team and production line staff are back.
