BMW M6 ends production and leaves V10 engine homeless

Not long after BMW M ended production of the E60 M5, BMW M has now announced the current M6 is no longer being built either, as of yesterday.

The sad repercussion is the V10, the mighty engine that powers both cars, no longer has a home - the next generation M6 will be powered by the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 as the upcoming M5. So it's an end to not only a great, almost scary, grand touring coupe, it's also an end to a magnificent 5.0-litre V10 engine.

Hopefully rumours of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics M car come true, whereby the ultra-futuristic, hybrid supercar brings back the V10, in conjunction with electric plug-in hybrid technology.
