In Japan, the new system is set to debut in the new Elgrand which is scheduled for release this month.

We have already seen this technology in action on the Infiniti EX35 in the US.

High resolution cameras mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle are helpful when parking, enabling the driver to steer easily and precisely into a parking space.

The screen displays the view from above on the left, and a front or rear view on the right. The front and rear views alternates according to the gear shift.

The left side-view is offered with the rear view, allowing the driver to more easily observe both the rear and left-front when attempting to parallel-park.

Sensors mounted on all four corners of the car relay distance data to the main screen via easy-to-understand colored graphics, and help warn the driver via a “beeping” alert the closer the vehicle approaches an fixed obstacle.

  6. Ross says:

It simply puts a “graphic” (not actual camera picture) of the vehicle in the centre of the image and it paints the side camera views around the car (after adjusting the skew of the image so they appear correctly and in 2D.

Thats pretty cool, nissan is taking care of the blind driver market. blind people can now drive themselves, how nice of them about time vehicle manufacturers took notice of the blind market. as they drive around audible beeps go off telling the blind person the location of something like a bat! Brilliant nissan!!
