2012 Mercedes-Benz GL Spy Photos

By Alborz Fallah |

The folks at Mercedes-Benz Germany must be having a busy month, we saw the C-Class Coupe and now the next generation GL has been caught testing out and about.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL will be based on the new ML platform (although it will be stretched out) and is expected to pretty much share technical data and specifications with its smaller brother.

Sources say the car should debut in 2012 with a wide variety of diesel and petrol engines.

Looks like it’s suffering from a mild case of Klugeritis.

Mercedes really need to think about what they’re doing in my opinion/ BMW seem so focussed, their cars are amazing. Mercedes-Benz, while having some great cars in their range, they also have a couple of duds. The GL should become more X5 focussed, the ML more X3 focussed (it seems Mercedes prefer the ML having a sporty, more compact image than the X5) and the A-class more 1-series. All these cars are outdated, falling behind and lack the appeal of their BMW counterparts. Merc, remember, a facelift won’t keep the car young forever…

The X3 rival from Mercedes is the GLK, not sold here because the current model is only available in LHD. The A and B-Class will be replaced 2011-2012 with a rumoured X1 rival labeled the BLK.
I would hardly say the ML or GL are outdated.
