It’s a bit of a slow news morning which gives me a chance to write about something I’d usually leave to Darcy – the lover of all things tuned. Personally, I think many (not all) tuners take fine automobiles and bugger them. They start with a vehicle that has seen hundreds of millions spent on its development, and make its ride bone hard, lower it so you virtually can’t drive it anywhere and then fiddle with the engine. At best you are left with a ticking time bomb and at worst a hand grenade. Should be fun to drive…

Which brings me to Mansory’s rework of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which although hardly subtle in its execution is actually just a sensible (expensive) restyle of a car that pretty much has everything right to begin with. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage for the lairy boy-racer sort. You could say that they’ve replaced the “bespoke” with a good dose of attitude.

The “Man AM’s” most notable feature is the set of 20-inch black alloys that complement the retina burning yellow paint work. There are also ‘Mansory’ badged Brembo brakes (6-pot front and 4-pot rear) along with revised springs and a two tier exhaust system.

Carbon-fibre is splashed around with gay abandon in the cabin and under the bonnet. A new alcantara/leather steering wheel, and Mansory emblazoned floor mats and door sills are the major features of the interior upgrade.

The exterior gets a new Mansory diffuser, side skirts, revised front bar and spoiler all to help differentiate the Man AM from all of the regular AM V8 Vantages in your neighbourhood. Aside from that, its all Aston Martin factory goodness, which once upon a time may have been a bad thing but in this day and age is just what you want if you plan to enjoy your AM on a regular basis. I wonder if they do one in silver…
