Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG DR520 version

Not that the original, standard C63 lacks anything in the power department, UK's division of AMG has announced it is offering horsepower-hungry customers this new DR520 version. Yes, that '520' does refer to the amount of horsepower - 388kW, if you want to get all metric about it.

The DR520 version of the 6.2-litre engine receives a high-intensity massage which kneads out an extra 52kW and an extra 50Nm of torque over the standard AMG specification. The stump-ripping 650Nm now on tap is enough to pull the 1730kg beast to 100km/h from rest in just 4.1 seconds. Certainly not bad for a supercar. Blistering for a medium-sized sedan.

Inside, the seats, steering wheel inserts and dashboard have be reupholstered in soft, svelte suede. The 'DR520' inscriptions on the seats only amplify the quality stitchmenship, exclusivity and attention to detail.

The DR520 will be available in wagon form, too. Note the fashionable European-style matte black paint - bank heist anyone?

We contacted Mercedes-Benz Australia about the possibility of a DR520-variant hitting our showrooms, but, unfortunately, they couldn't comment on any plans for the uprated version. We can only hope. Expect a $20,000 premium on top of the C63 $169,900 price tag though.
