Range Rover Evoque first official image

By Anthony Crawford |

Land Rover has finally released the first official photo of their brand new Range Rover model, which has been called the ‘Evoque’.

Hats off to Land Rover for producing a production model so close to the original LRX concept vehicle, something of a rare feat these days in a world of computer aided design (CAD).

The Evoque will join the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport line up and will be built at the award winning manufacturing plant in Halewood, Liverpool.

It’s also a vehicle who’s unique design should be seen as the future direction of all Range Rover product when Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover said: “Today is a very special occasion for Range Rover, not only are we celebrating 40 years of the brand, we are also demonstrating our exciting future by showing the all-new Range Rover Evoque”

He also said: “Customers can be confident that the new car will be premium, luxurious and just as special as the other Range Rover models. It’s sporting looks and unique qualities will open the brand to a new group of customers who may not have considered a Range Rover product before”

Smaller and lighter than any Range Rover before it, Evoque will also be the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly car in the model line up, emitting just 130g/km of CO2.

Evoque will be sold in over 160 countries and available in both 4WD and 2WD versions, which again suggests that Range Rover is after a much larger and more diverse market than any previous model in the brand’s history.

After its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show in September, Evoque will go on sale in Australia in late Q3 2011 and may we suggest you get your orders in, as this thing is likely to sell off the charts, if pricing is competitive.

Hot! Any details of size, weight? If its smaller than a Freelander is this comparable to a X1?

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au Anthony Crawford

Neil, No details on size as yet I’m afraid but it looks to be slightly larger than the Freelander 2 and perhaps the X1. Like I said, this thing is likely to have a major problem – supply!

I can’t wait to try one. When are the engine specifications and prices coming?

  • figo

looks stunning and very true to the concept.

  • ox

Very nice, now sit back and watch as Merc, BMW & Audi scramble to make competitor cars.

  • Labrys

Wow. That is one nice looking ride.
It’s good to see it stick so close to the concept.
Will be very interested to see the specs and price.
The one problem I can forsee though is rear visability.
It doesn’t look like a big back window.

I wonder how expensive it is going to be?

Is it competing in the X1, Tiguan, Q3, Territory?

Or is it going to be more around the X3, Q5 territory?

Will hers have skinny tyres and huge high beams?
