Peugeot 207 Touring
October 12, 2007 by George Skentzos
The latest addition to the 207 range from Peugeot is the 207 Touring model which will go on sale in Australia from November 2007.
The 207 Touring is a spacious addition to the 207 lineup, offering increased versatility and practicality, with a luggage capacity of 428 litres – 118 more than the 207 hatch.
The spaciousness of the Touring model is not only improved through its size – now 119mm longer and 55mm higher than the hatch – but also via the unique panoramic glass roof which increases internal brightness, and features an electrically-operated sun blind which limits the brightness as required.
A clever rear parcel shelf conceals luggage from the outside yet allows easy access from the rear seats thanks to the handle used to fold the first flap and can be folded away at the bottom of the boot when carrying bulky items and can withstand a weight of 100kg or behind the front seats for heavier items.
At launch, the 207 Touring will be offered with a choice of two engines, a turbo charged 1.6 litre petrol engine or a 1.6 HDi turbo- diesel engine.
The 1.6-litre 16v petrol engine (EP6) produces maximum power of 88kW and 160 Nm at 4250 rpm mated exclusively to an automatic gearbox featuring Porsche Tiptronic sequential control.
The 1.6-litre disel engine produces 80kW and 240 Nm at 1750 rpm, however it can achieve 260 Nm temporarily in the top three gears thanks to the overboost function.
A leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, white instrument dials, chrome door handles, six speaker MP3 compatible sound system and trademark Peugeot front grill complete the driving experience.
Like the hatch, the 207 Touring edition is available in XT specifications with a comprehensive standard safety specification which includes:
- Six airbags
- Five adjustable head restraints
- Isofix rear seat mountings
- ABS
- Electronic braking force distribution (EBFD)
- Emergency brake assist (EBA)
Pricing
- 207 XT 1.6 litre petrol engine, automatic gearbox – $28,990
- 207 XT HDi 1.6 turbo-diesel engine with a manual gearbox – $29,790

I like it…. a lot!!
There’s not a lot of wagons on the market that have this much panache. Just because you are soccer mum, doesn’t mean you want to drive a lunch box on wheels.
Well done Peugeot. :D
contender for the ugly fugly awards
Saw it yesterday at the motor show. It has a ‘presence’ unlike many small cars. The dark rear windows, quarter glass, rear window all give it a sleek look. Interior is bright and clean, brilliant double way rear hatch opening (whole door or two parts). All in all it was a memorable first meeting (along with seeing the Roomster in the flesh for the first time). Well worth the one day return flight to the show. As for ugly – it really is quite distinctively attractive in the flesh and noticable in a sea of cars (eg Impreza, i30, Mazda3) that all seem at first glance attractively the same.
same price as a high end corolla as well, quite impressive, especially the diesel engine one. Although if its like previous peugeots then it will be quite heavy which will blunt performance a bit.
Thank you Peugeot for making it ever so more clear why we should not buy your products
I own a 207 Touring Petrol. I have been driving it for 3 months in the country and the city to the tune of 7000+ km’s in that short time. It is brilliant, not only on the fuel economy; it is quiet and handles like a dream. The BMW 1.6 is more than enough power for a car of its size and with the Porsche gear box I don’t suffer too much from its weighty 1.3t. It also has a nice engine growl too.
I have seated 5 adults in comfort, and I haven’t run out of boot space yet.
To anyone who is considering this car. Take it from an owner. You will never look back. Peugeot has done a brilliant job. And when all small cars are starting to look the same, this one turns heads. Mine has even been a wedding car in its short time. The new pug is worth the extra dollars.
