Volvo recall affects 30,000 owners worldwide

A recent international recall for Volvo vehicles has been issued and the cars affected are 2010 model C30, C70, S40 and V50 models equipped with the 2.5 litre engine in manual transmission form.

The problem is down to a ball joint and cylinder pin on the gear shift lever that may be mounted at an incorrect torque setting which may lead to the ball joint coming loose. Product Safety Recalls Australia says if the problem escalates on the affected vehicles, the driver will be unable to change gears and recommends depressing the clutch and switching off the engine.

We spoke to Volvo Australia about the problem though and they said it has only affected 24 Australian customers.
