By Alborz Fallah |

Peugeot sees itself as a world-leader in diesel technology, and here at Car Advice we really can’t dispute that, when it comes to Diesel Peugeot/Citreon are the masters. I mean if you don’t believe me, you just have to think about the fact that Peugeot have been selling diesels in Australia since 1978.

Given that sort of diesel heritage, Peugeot has been right at the forefront of the surge in the popularity of diesels over the past few years in Australia.

And so, given that Peugeot have released 2 new additions to the growing HDi diesel range, the Peugeot 307 XS HDi and Peugeot 307 Touring XSE HDi with a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Peugeot claims that these two models will offer buyers the performance, economy and environmental benefits that their 2.0 Litre Turbo Diesel engine can give. Click for full detail and prices of the Peugeot_307 range. Prices start at $25,000 for the Peugeot 307 XS, $29,500 for the XS HDi and go all the way to $36,000 for the Touring XSE HDi

I am ready to replace my Honda CRV with a not too large wagon. I have looked at the Peugeot 407 Touring, Audi Sportback and Volvo V50. Do you have an opinion on the best choice? During the week I drive into the Melbourne CBD and on weekends drive around 2 children. Thanks. Vanessa.

I have a 307 hdi tiptronic and it is great. Now has 24000 on the clock and last weekend got 5.2 lts. /100 km. on a trip to Dubbo from Sydney. When New the best I could get was 5.7 lt / 100 km but it is still improving. At first service I put in 0W/40 Mobil 1 Oil which I had used for 17 years in my VW I had previously, I believe that the oil is the secret.
The car is a delight to drive and I look forward to many years of saving fuel.
